We Are Not Alone Here
Earth belongs to more than humanity.
A bird on a rooftop.
A tree beside a road.
An insect moving through the grass.
We pass them every day, often without noticing.
Human beings have built cities, crossed oceans, transformed landscapes and reached into space. We have created extraordinary technologies and changed the planet in ways no other species has.
But for all our achievements, we remain just one form of life among millions.
The forests, oceans, animals, plants and microscopic organisms around us are not simply scenery. Each has a place in the complex living system that makes life on Earth possible.
And we are part of that system.
Life supports life.
The air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat all connect us to countless other living things.
